India's power demand surges 7.5% in first 10 mths of fiscal 2022-23

India's power consumpltion surged by 7.5 percent year-on-year to 1354.97 billion units (BU) during the April-January period of the current fiscal year, indicating a notable boost in economic activities nationwide.

Government data reveals that this increase from the 1259.49 BU recorded in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, 2022-23, reflects a significant uptick.
Notably, power consumption for the entire fiscal year of 2022-23 stood at 1505.91 BU, as per the provided data. Analysts attribute the 7.5 percent growth in power consumption primarily to a resurgence in economic activities witnessed during the first ten months of the current fiscal year. They highlight growth spikes in power consumption observed in August, September, and October, attributed to humid weather conditions and heightened industrial activities ahead of the festive season.
