IMD ISSUES ORANGE ALERT IN SEVERAL PARTS OF CITY WATERLOGGED

The Indian Meterological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall on Friday and Saturday.

There is a monsoon trough and a cyclonic circulation has also developed over Mumbai, which has resulted in strong westerly winds, the Met Department said. An orange alert is issued in cases of extremely bad weather. It affects transport facilities, including rail, road and air. According to recent data released by IMD, the average rainfall recorded at 8 am in the Central Mumbai region was 93.16 mm, in the Eastern Suburbs it was 66.03 mm and in the Western Suburbs, it was 78.93 mm. Amid heavy rains in the city, the King’s Circle area of Mumbai has been water logged. Over night continuous rainfall in several parts of the Navi Mumbai area has also left the place waterlogged. In Central Mumbai, the maximum rainfall recorded from 7 am to 8 am was at the F/N Ward Office and Wadala Fire Station at 28 mm.
