Can an HCS-EB (Haryana Civil Services - Executive Branch) cadre officer be posted in his home district on a prestigious post, i.e., Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) - SDO (C), i.e., Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), which is also called SDM?

HCS officers eligible for posting as SDM in their home districts

Can an HCS-EB (Haryana Civil Services - Executive Branch) cadre officer be posted in his home district on a prestigious post, i.e., Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) - SDO (C), i.e., Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), which is also called SDM?

It is generally believed that gazetted officers (gazetted officers) working in regular government service, i.e., Group A and Group B (Class One and Class Two) officers, cannot be posted in their home district. In this row, Chandrakant, son of former BJP Lok Sabha MP from the state, late Ratan Lal Kataria, has been posted as sub-divisional magistrate in his home district, Panchkula.

In continuation to the aforesaid, it is pertinent to mention that on 18 December 2024, in the latest posting and transfer order issued by the Personnel Department of Haryana Government regarding 47 SCS officers, 2020 batch HCS officer Chandrakant Kataria, who has declared Panchkula as his home district (i.e., family home) in the official records of the state government, has been posted as SDO (Civil), i.e., SDM, in Panchkula district itself. Kataria was earlier posted as Joint Managing Director in the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC).
