Congress Chief criticizes Modi Govt for failing to curb rising crude oil prices

On Thursday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge criticized the Union government for not reducing petrol and diesel prices despite the global fall in crude oil prices.

He claimed that the Centre has no control over the profiteering. In a social media post, Kharge asserted that Indian oil companies are making a profit of Rs 8 to Rs 10 per litre on petrol and Rs 3 to Rs 4 per litre on diesel.

Kharge, in his Hindi post, highlighted that even as crude oil prices declined, the Modi government failed to rein in the alleged exploitation. He referenced statements from Modi's ministers stating that there were no discussions with oil companies about price reductions.
