HOLY WEEK ALERT PNP to police commanders: Monitor electioneering

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil cautioned police commanders about local candidates who may take advantage of the return of people to their hometowns during Holy Week to campaign.
"The Holy Week may become a window for electioneering as many people return to their hometowns. This may lead to a surge in political activities and called for vigilance," said Marbil during the command conference with top police officials held on Monday, April 14, at Camp Crame.
With the ongoing election period, he stressed the need for vigilance in areas with reported violence.
Marbil likewise reminded all personnel to remain apolitical, citing recent incidents involving PNP personnel allegedly engaging in partisan activities.
"Do not allow yourselves to be used by politicians. Remain apolitical. We serve the Filipino people-not political interests," he said.
