Milnerton Primary raise funds for vulnerable kids

School started with a bit of a twist for Milnerton Primary School last week as pupils ditched their traditional school bags and packs for the school's "Anything But a Bag Day".

Pupils arrived at the gates on Monday, June 23, pushing trolleys, pulling carts, and carrying everything from pillowcases to kitchen pots and more.

Bev Haywood, the headmaster's assistant, said the fun and imaginative event marked the culmination of a successful charity drive. Pupils were encouraged to bring R10 or more in support of Home of Hope, a local non-profit organisation dedicated to helping vulnerable, abused, abandoned, and neglected children, with a special focus on those affected by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).

The school raised R24 000, doubling the amount raised for other charities in previous years.
