Pune Seminar Highlights Cultural Roots, Evolving Identities And The Need For Gender Equity

On International Women's Day, the Leichal Taret Foundation (LTF), a Pune-based NGO, hosted a thought-provoking seminar titled “From Tradition to Transformation: The Indian Women's Journey” on Sunday.

The event, held at Spicer Adventist University, brought together academicians, social workers, students and members of the public for an engaging dialogue on women's evolving roles across cultures.

Rooted in its mission of empowering women, children and underprivileged communities, the Foundation curated a seminar that explored the intersection of tradition and modernity. The initiative also spotlighted often underrepresented narratives from the North East alongside Maharashtra's rich legacy of social reform.

A key highlight of the seminar was its cross-cultural perspective. Speakers examined how women across regions have shaped and sustained social frameworks while simultaneously driving transformation. The Maharashtrian context reflected a history of reform movements and increasing participation of women in leadership, while discussions on Manipur and the North East highlighted matriarchal influences, community resilience and grassroots activism.
