Pianists hope to hit right notes for a world record

Sunderland will take centre stage this December with an extraordinary effort to enter the Guinness World Records.
Help make history with Sunderland Music City.
Organised by the Sunderland Music, Arts and Culture Trust and Sunderland Music City, almost 200 pianists of all ages and abilities will be invited to perform consecutively for over 11 hours in a single, record-breaking piano relay.
The event-dubbed Keys of the City-will take place from 8am to 7pm on Sunday, 7 December 2025, at The Fire Station and aims to break the current world record of 169 pianists, set in Hong Kong earlier this year.
