New lease of life planned for 'neglected' city centre space

Plans for "spacious family flats" above a retail unit in Sunderland city centre have been submitted to council development bosses.

Sunderland City Council's planning department has received a planning application for 59A Fawcett Street.

The space sits above the Homeflair Blinds unit on the street and plans are seeking permission to convert the first and second floors into three residential flats, along with three additional windows and a new rear entrance door.

Proposed floor plans show a three-bedroom, four-person flat on the first floor, while plans for the second floor include a one-bedroom, two-person flat and a two-bedroom, three-person flat.
