Greenwell heroics not enough as league leaders held to a draw

Dukes ECB North East Premier League leaders Burnmoor had to settle for a draw after being asked to bat first away at Burnopfield.

Opener Ross Greenwell starred in his 105 not out innings, while Matthew Brown added 37 and Stuart Poynter made 77 in their total of 294-4 declared.
In reply, Burnopfield’s Ross Whitfield Jnr scored 98 and Jonny Bushnell 62, and although Waqas Maqsood bowled figures of 3-54, they also claimed the draw on 235-7.
Sunderland lost at South Northumberland, who took first knock and declared on 246-5. Sam Ewart hit 41, Solomen Bell 36 and George Drissell 63, while Simon Birtwisle top scored with 68 not out.
In reply, the visitors lost early wickets, but Robert Potts scored 33 and Hashmatullah Hemat 34, but then Ollie McGee took 5-56 and they were all out for 161 runs.
