ANC top 7 must lead lifestyle audits

Membership system also to be upgraded

The ANC national executive committee (NEC) is due to decide this weekend on a recommendation from the party's integrity commission that all ANC cadres should have lifestyle audits because the party "serves the interests of the poor and disadvantaged".

The proposal, contained in a report expected to be presented to the NEC today, noted that the lifestyle audits should not be restricted to ANC deployees in government only but also include the party's top brass.

The ethics body stressed that the lifestyle audits must "be carried out with immediate effect" and encouraged ANC officials to "lead from the front and subject themselves to the first round of lifestyle audits".
