CAN'T get Mariah Carey out of your head at Christmas? Well Kylie Minogue may just have the festive antidote.

The Aussie pop legend has been lucky (lucky lucky) over the course of her pop career, but one accolade still eludes her - a Christmas No.1.

That dream could finally come true this month thanks to her new holiday banger, XMAS (pronounced X-M-AS) released exclusively with Amazon Music. So can Princess Kylie finally dethrone Queen Mariah?

“Honestly, I haven't been thinking about that,” insists Kylie. “That's like trying to stop a tidal wave. No, MC will always be Christmas. But hey, we'll see. It would make me feel like it’s 1988 again, which would be a lot of fun.”

Kylie previously came closest to the hallowed festive summit in that year thanks to chintzy Jason Donovan duet Especially For You, which was held off the top spot by Band Aid II.

“Did we get bumped?” she feigns ignorance. “Well, let's just say it would be nice. But most important to me is getting XMAS out of my system because it’s been 10 years in my brain.”
