STOP TROPHY HUNT IMPORTS

RICKY Gervais, Dame Julie Walters, Kate Winslet and Sir Michael Caine are among stars calling for immediate action to ban vile trophy hunting imports.

- BY NADA FARHOUD Environment Editor

The actors have signed a letter demanding an end to cruel British hunters bringing home the heads and body parts of wild animals such as lions and elephants as sick souvenirs.

Catherine Zeta-Jones, Sir David Jason, Gary Lineker, Sir Rod Stewart and Dame Joanna Lumley have also thrown their support behind our campaign to ban trophy imports.

The letter reads: "We are shocked that British hunters are still allowed to bring home trophies of endangered wildlife such as rhinoceroses, elephants, cheetahs, polar bears, leopards, hippopotamuses, giraffes and monkeys.

"We are also mystified at the apparent lack of government action. Labour made a strong manifesto pledge to ban hunting trophies.

"However, a bill was conspicuously missing from the King's Speech. Questions from MPs and Lords about the government's proposed timetable are met with seemingly evasive answers."
