Harry's hurdle

PRINCE Harry's heralded face-to-face meeting with his father this week signals a major thawing of relations but is also "full of peril", a royal biographer claims.

- BY MITYA UNDERWOOD

The Duke of Sussex is due to land in the UK tomorrow for a charity event, and it is widely believed he will meet King Charles for the first time in 19 months.

Harry's arrival - which falls on the third anniversary of the death of his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II comes after top aides from both sides held talks.

Author Tom Bower said that while any contact between father and son would be a step forward, it would also come with big risks.

He said: "Harry has a huge mountain to overcome. He used to get on very well with Charles, but time is not on their side.

"There would be huge levels of emotion involved if they meet. Whatever Charles is facing, he would much prefer to have a good relationship with his son, so I'm sure he wants reconciliation. But he must bear in mind that he's dealing with someone who could sabotage everything and embarrass him enormously."

The biggest obstacle for Harry, 40, would be his track record of publicly disclosing private chats, Tom said.
