Half of teachers say they're banned in school

- BY SIMON MURPHY

MORE than half of secondary teachers ban pupils from using mobiles during school hours.

One in 20 say they are not allowed on the grounds at all, a poll found.

And 18% say phones are collected at the start of the day or sealed in pouches before kids are allowed them back when they go home.

TeacherTapp asked nearly 6,000 secondary teachers in England about their schools’ policies on smartphones and 56% said they banned their use.
