SIBLINGS BECOME TV FAVOURITES IN RACE ACROSS THE WORLD

HEY are the intrepid Midland brothers among the competitors in the latest series of the BBC's Race Across the World.

Viewers are enjoying the new fifth season of the BAFTA-award winning show, watching the exploits of five pairs on an expedition covering over 14,000km from the Great Wall Of China to Kanniyakumari at the tip of India.

With a limited budget equivalent to the typical cost of a flight for the journey, the pairs each have a total of £22 per day to spend on food, accommodation and travel.

Brothers Brian and Melvyn are braving the journey and quickly becoming fan favourites with their hilarious banter. They are from Swadlincote in South Derbyshire.

Brian is a 62-year-old retired financial advisor, whereas Melvyn, 65, works as a driving instructor.

Describing their reasons for applying to Race Across The World, Brian said: "It was an excuse to get together, and relive some of our old adventures when we were teenagers and young children."

The brothers have left their wives and families at home for the nine-week adventure.
