Doctors find tumour the size of a rugby ball

A DAD who thought he'd hurt his back playing tennis has recalled his shock wen doctors found the pain was coming from a rugby-ball sized tumour.

Richard Driver, 61, had complained of back and stomach pain in the months leading up to his 60th birthday in August 2023, but thought a tennis match with his son, Rory, 29, was to blame.

However, when the pain continued, the retired IT consultant was persuaded to visit his GP by his wife Tina, 59, and daughter Zoe, 32, the following month.

He was referred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, and doctors discovered a rugby ball-sized tumour in Richard's abdomen which could have been growing for years.
