Brave cops who rescued women from burning house honoured

BRAVE police officers who ran into a burning Birmingham home to rescue residents have been handed awards recognising their courage.

Pc Ben Kirk found a fire had broken out at a home in Villa Road in Lozells shortly before midnight on Sunday, February 24 last year.
The blaze was spreading to neighbouring homes and Pc Kirk was concerned there could be people inside.
The front door was locked but Pc Kirk and colleagues Pcs Mitch Price, Barry Rattu and Chris Fisher smashed their way into the smoke filled building using a battering ram.
