PRO-PALESTINIAN protesters yesterday ignored police pleas to cancel marches following Thursday's Manchester synagogue terror attack.

March organisers said the peaceful protests had to go on despite what happened.

Storm Amy and the torrential rain helped reduce the numbers at marches in London and Manchester, held by activist group Defend Our Juries and Greater Manchester Friends of Palestine. In London, police and protesters clashed while Metropolitan officers arrested six people for displaying a banner on Westminster Bridge which read: “We oppose genocide. We support Palestine Action.”

Scotland Yard said 442 people in total were arrested during protests in the capital.
