BARNEY STEWART says it’s a “blessing” being an intern as well as frontman for Falkirk - even if he's susceptible to stick from all-comers.

- BY ALAN ROBERTSON

This semester of his third year at Heriot-Watt University sees sport and exercise students go out into the real world to apply their studies.

Not only is he working with his team-mates, he's helping head of physical performance Blair Doughty put them through their paces.

"Blair's always on my case but he's a good nag!" laughed Stewart.

"Before I signed there was a link between Falkirk and Heriot-Watt. They were going to get in two interns - one doing the academy and one in and around the first team.

"I got the first team so I've been helping out the sport scientists. Blair's been getting me to write a lot of essays about every single aspect of football!
