DEREK McINNES loved his Hearts team's victory over Rangers at Ibrox - but he was unsettled by the vitriol that poured out at opposite number Russell Martin.

McInnes: Fans' abuse is so unfair on Russell

The Jambos gaffer left Govan with a deserved three points after Lawrence Shankland's double put the Edinburgh men clear at the top of the Premiership.

But McInnes - a former Rangers player - says the abuse Martin received from the stands after the home side's defeat was unfair.

Home supporters turned on their manager, loudly telling him where to go in no uncertain terms - and he was booed while standing on the touchline.

McInnes felt for his fellow Premiership boss and said: "I've got more than a bit of empathy for Russell - a huge amount.
