Fed-up Hoops fans stage protest as champions have to suffer in silence

THE Green Brigade kept it shut for the first 12 minutes.

But it was the sight of the green machine being closed down on the park for 90 that brought a din of despair and more chants of “Sack the board”.

The first of three planned silent protests against the board gave the opening to this encounter an unusual feel.

Unfortunately for Brendan Rodgers, the fact his side - so fluent last season - are hardly singing on the park is nothing out the ordinary at the moment.

This stalemate means top spot was relinquished to Hearts and attention now turns to the Europa League visit of Braga.

Celtic need to be so much better against the Portuguese.

Rodgers made five changes to the side that drew in Belgrade with Kelechi Iheanacho and Marcelo Saracchi in for their first starts at Parkhead.

Iheanacho cracked the bar after Daizen Maeda had cut back Luke McCowan's quick diagonal in 20 minutes.

Saraachi also found woodwork with a wicked angled drive soon after while Callum McGregor stung Raphael Sallinger's fists with a thundering 20-yard drive.

Hibs produced little to worry Kasper Schmeichel other than Warren O'Hora's toe poke that landed on top of the net.

Iheanacho was an inch away from connecting with a Saracchi cutback after a flowing move in 58 minutes then had a goal chalked off for offside soon after.

Rodgers rang the changes with his entire frontline replaced by 74 minutes. Rarely-seen Paulo Bernardo even got a run out and almost netted with a half-volley.
