MY LOVELY late mother-in-law had no truck with Father's Day.
-
While her other half was lavished with slippers, whisky and the usual cards, she'd snort: “Every day is blooming Father's Day.”
Like almost every other commercial event on the calendar, Father's Day has become bigger and bigger.
The supermarket offerings are predictable - steak dinners, whiskies and novelty socks.
Although, I did laugh at one advert for non-slip bath mats which had the info “still time for Father's Day”.
