RAF jet used for refuelling

- BY NICK SOMMERLAD

AN RAF plane that cost millions to convert into a government jet has been sidelined from VIP duties.

David Cameron's Tory government spent £10million customising the transport aircraft to fly ministers and royals around the world in 2015.

Five years later, then-PM Boris Johnson ordered the grey Vespina Voyager to be repainted red, white and blue at a cost of £900,000.

The idea was to "better represent the UK around the world with national branding" but Labour and the Lib Dems slammed it as a waste of money.

The RAF confirmed that the so-called "Brexit plane" has not been used for VIP transport since 2023.
