‘any law abiding citizens of the country voted for the National People’s Power (NPP) at the last presidential and general elections with the hope that if the NPP came into power, they would as promised do away with the present “bahubootha constitution” as one former president called it and enact a new one getting rid of excessive, dictatorial powers bestowed on the president at present.

These powers have been flagrantly misused at every turn for the benefit of the incumbent president or his/her henchmen without any benefit to the people or the country. Once the present constitution is repealed and new constitution enacted, all powers can be vested in parliament as under the Soulbury constitution and the Republican constitution of 1972.
