Time to rein in costly schemes for arrivals

BRITAIN is a welcoming country where people fleeing persecution have found refuge for centuries.

We have a proud history of providing sanctuary to men and women that others would hunt down, and hearing their stories makes us treasure our liberties which are the envy of so much of the world.

Britain needs an asylum and immigration system which is fair, rigorous and efficient. For the sake of genuine refugees it is vital this is not abused by economic migrants who would not qualify for residency in this country.
