Time for cliches is over...we must act

THERE was no shortage of depressingly predictable political doublespeak last week.

The Prime Minister's address to the nation opened with a "hold the system to account" and "shine a light into the darkest corner".

Then came a "nothing's off the table" swiftly followed by "I want to be crystal clear".

Towards the end, to complete the bingo card of gobbledegook, we even had a "we'll leave no stone unturned".

All punctuated by three separate mentions of "a line in the sand".

The gravity of this horrific crime must be acknowledged, as must the PM's good intention in launching a public inquiry into the failings that lead up to the murder of three girls at a dance class and the serious injury of 10 others including two adults.
