RORY CAN HAVE A QUAIL OF A TIME!

NEW Masters champion Rory McIlroy is the hot favourite to win this week’s US PGA and get halfway to a calendar Grand Slam, according to Sky Sports pundit Rich Beem.

- By Neil McLeman

But Beem (right) is predicting a “battle royal” with world No.1 Scottie Scheffler in the second Major of the season.

And the 2002 US PGA winner wants to see the top two in the world paired together in the opening rounds.

Northern Irishman McIlroy made history — and lifted a huge weight off his shoulders — by becoming only the sixth man ever to complete the career Grand Slam. He will now bid to equal Sir Nick Faldo’s UK record of six Majors at Quail Hollow, where he has won four times.

Jordan Spieth, who can complete the Grand Slam himself this week, has dubbed the North Carolina venue the “Rory McIlroy Country Club”.
