OLLIE POPE says he is ready to lead the England Test side in India should Ben Stokes suffer any setback in his recovery.
Captain Stokes has undergone knee surgery and his red-ball deputy admitted he has given thought to how it would feel being in charge.
The Surrey batsman said: "I think naturally when you are vice-captain there is always a risk that the captain can go down so of course that is something that I can think about if it needs to happen.
"It would be silly for me not to prepare and think about it.
"And if it is required of me, it is something I have pretty decent clarity about.
