Games ban threat over Ozempic jab

ATHLETES who inject the diabetes drug Ozempic for dramatic weight-loss and other "performance enhancing" side effects could find themselves banned from the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

The World Anti-Doping Agency has added semaglutide, Ozempic’s active ingredient, to a list of substances it monitors.

Matt Fedoruk, the agency’s chief US science officer, confirmed the investigation would be a “complex determination” into whether semaglutide, which is also in drugs Wegovy and Rybelsus, ends up on the banned list.
