Consciousness could extend beyond death claims shock study

CONSCIOUSNESS may extend beyond the current definition of death, enduring after the heart stops and the brain apparently ceases to function, a bombshell study claimed.

US researchers who reviewed cases of near death experiences and animal experiments have called for death to be redefined as a “negotiable condition”.

Anna Fowler, a student researcher at Arizona State University, said the findings suggested “death unfolds as a process, rather than an instantaneous event”.

She added: “Emerging evidence suggests elements of consciousness may briefly exist beyond the measurable activity of the brain and that death, long considered absolute, is instead a negotiable condition.”
