'Race' Sam's family say thanks for help

THE parents of Race Across The World contestant Sam Gardiner have been 'overwhelmed' by support following their son’s death.

The 24-year-old, who competed in series two of the BBC show with mum Jo, died after a car crash near Gatley, in Stockport, last week.

A fundraiser set up in the landscape gardener’s memory has now raised more than £10,000 for the National Organisation for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (National FASD). The family say they have been 'touched' by the response during the difficult time.

Jo Gardiner added: “We have been overwhelmed by the tens of thousands of messages of love and support on social media and in comments to press reporting. We would like to thank the BBC, Studio Lambert and everyone at Race Across The World production, fellow contestants and fans of the show for all their support at this terrible time.
