Fly-tipping has left site in 'squalid' mess
Stirling Observer
|October 01, 2025
The continued build-up of fly-tipping at the city’s former Prudential Craigforth campus is now blocking access for walkers and cyclists.
A Stirling resident contacted the Observer this week to point out “an area the size of a quarter of a football pitch” is now strewn with refuse including building materials, packaging, fridges and paperwork.
And as of this week a barrier has been forced open to allow vehicles to enter the area.
It follows concerns expressed last week by another city resident who described the ongoing situation at Craigforth as hazardous to the public.
Walkers passing through the area pointed out in May that demolition work on the former Prudential office buildings appears to have halted and there was no longer any sign of onsite security.
Developers Ambassador Group were granted planning permission in July 2024 in principle for the 54-hectare site comprising new offices, retail space, residential accommodation, care home, nursery and leisure facilities.
Concerns were expressed four months ago over the condition of B-listed Craigforth House which had been targeted by vandals. Craigforth House is to be converted into a hotel under Ambassador's plans.
