Covid and cost delay Balmaha business

Rising costs and problems finding tradespeople have been blamed for delays in opening a Balamaha business, leading councillors to give operators another three years to open up.

The Works in the village's Main Street is described as a detached inn with staff accommodation, situated within a lodge park on Loch Lomond.

But at a meeting of Stirling and District Licensing Board this week, members were asked to extend a previously granted provisional premises licence to Cruachan Developments Ltd given it was unfinished.

Provisional premises licences are intended to provide certainty to potential licence holders that they will be able to obtain a full premises licence once any renovation or conversion works are complete, preventing unnecessary risk and costs.
