Jal Shakti PHE employees seek immediate action on pending wages, staff shortages

Jal Shakti (PHE) Employees and Workers Association convened an executive body meeting at the PHE Complex in Udhampur under the leadership of Som Nath, District President of the Association and a senior trade union leader from Jammu Province. The meeting focused on the persistent neglect of daily wage workers’ concerns by the government, especially regarding non-payment of wages, absence of regularization, and acute staff shortages in the department.

Som Nath, addressing the gathering, voiced serious concerns about the ongoing challenges faced by daily wagers. He condemned the government's indecisive and inconsistent approach towards policy making for these workers.

Although a committee had been established to review the issues of daily wagers, Nath pointed out that the committee has no role in resolving pending wage disbursements or in implementing the Minimum Wages Act, thereby rendering it ineffective.
