Swans eye two continental stars as Sheehan looks to complete impressive window
South Wales Evening Post
|August 23, 2025
SWANSEA City are on the brink. Not in the way many of us have become accustomed to when heading into the final throes of a transfer window, however.
In fact, on this occasion, Swansea feel on the precipice of what looks, on paper at least, a genuinely impressive transfer window.
Cameron Burgess has arrived just months after taking on the likes of Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland in the Premier League, while the likes of Malick Yalcouye and Marko Stamenic both arrive with Champions League experience on their CV.
Ethan Galbraith looks like he has all the tools to be City's next midfield general for years to come, while Zeidane Inoussa has shown promising glimpses that he too has what it takes to make an impact in the Championship
The captures of Ricardo Santos and Kaelan Casey have, meanwhile, unquestionably strengthened Alan Sheehan's defensive hand for the new season, with Paul Farman providing much-needed cover between the sticks.
Sheehan, having lost 14 players from this squad this summer, has to be pretty pleased with how this recruitment drive has gone, but there are still two missing pieces as we head into the final 10 days of the summer.
Perhaps the most obvious is the need for a striker.
Despite the capture of promising youngster Bobby Wales, a new number nine is clearly the top priority for the club right now, particularly after moving on the likes of Jerry Yates and Mykola Kuharevich earlier in the window.
City have already missed out on several targets in recent weeks, but there is still some optimism behind the scenes that a quality new striker can be landed.
