Saints show title credentials as they claim spoils in table-topping clash

VICTORIA Saints strengthened their grip on the Swansea Fish Bowling League division one title with a win over second-place Bonymaen

The league action started on Thursday night and it was a clash of third versus fourth with Bonymaen away to Jersey and in a close match it was the hosts who won 58-56 and the points shared 8-4
It was the rink of Rob Lawson, Elmo Dulio, Alan Price and skip Ed Johnson who were Jersey's match winners with a 26-11 rink win against the rink skipped by Alan Slattery.
The away rink of Jeff Jones, Dai Fisher, Sian Clement-Wake and Rhidian Clement bowled well to record a 27-14 victory over skip Rhodri Johnson.
The rink score with Alan Rees and Dan Amos finished all square 18-18, with the Amos rink scoring a two on the last end to tie the scores.
The other Thursday night match was the clash between Dunvant Druids and lowly Waunarlwydd, and it was the home side that produced a good all -round performance to win on all three rinks with a winning score of 70-50, and the points shared 11-1
Rink scores: Andrew Jones 23-15 Bob Eaton, Paul Rees 20-19 Graham Coope, Rob Richards 27-16 Keith Hunter.
The pick of the matches on the weekend was the clash between top-of-the-table Victoria Saints and second-place Bonymaen, with the visitors looking to get back to winning ways after losing to Jersey, but they suffered another defeat with the hosts winning by 17 shots, 65-48, and picking up a valuable nine points with three going to the visitors.
