O'Connor fined after admitting historic breaches of betting rules

WREXHAM defender Tom O'Connor has been fined £4,200 after admitting he broke football's betting rules earlier in his career.
-
The Football Association confirmed O'Connor, who is currently on loan at Peterborough United from the Red Dragons, placed 16 bets on football matches between April 2017 and May 2021. An independent regulatory commission found the bets breached FA Rule E8, which bans players from betting on football.
Five of the bets were on competitions involving his own club at the time. The 26-year-old admitted the charges straight away and did not contest the case.
After reviewing the evidence, an FA panel decided to issue a £4,200 fine and a formal warning. The Irishman will not face a ban or any on-pitch punishment.
