WORK on creating a new street plaza-style facility for skateboarding and other wheeled sports at Swansea's Victoria Park is anticipated to start in the coming month.

Swansea Council will soon be appointing a contractor for the work, which is expected to be finished by the end of March next year.

A meeting is taking place at the park at 4.30pm on Tuesday, November 11, when experts from Curve Studio will be on hand to talk people through the project, which will take place in the area where the skate ramp is currently located.

A followup meeting will then be held at the Guildhall, where an update will be given on other sites due to benefit from a £2.8m council investment in wheeled sports across the city.

Updated designs for a BMX-focused facility at Gowerton’s Elba sports complex and an improved skatepark at Ynystawe will be shared at the meeting.
