Could Cullen solve a key issue for Swans?

THIS afternoon’s clash with Norwich City probably isn’t quite a must-win for Swansea City, but there's no question that boss Alan Sheehan could really do with three points.

They are on a run of one victory in seven Championship outings, and Swansea have only won one league game at the Swansea.com Stadium so far this season.

Concerned grumbles are unsurprisingly starting to build, but with just five points separating City from the top six, the tide can turn very, very quickly.

Even so, their struggles in the final third are there for all to see, and there are several key issues that have already come up in recent weeks.

The missing link

The stats for Swansea in the final third don’t make for pretty reading at the moment.

In particular, the fact Swansea have the lowest number of touches in the opposition box of any side in the Championship, clearly points to a disjointed and ineffective front line.

Interestingly, Swansea are actually sixth in the league for the most completed passes into the final third, which suggests something is breaking down somewhere between midfield and the forward line.

Identifying that problem and addressing accordingly has to be the key priority for Sheehan right now, although it's difficult to see an obvious solution from the inside looking in. Some have suggested Swansea are missing quality all-out number 10, which perhaps opens up a case for Liam Cullen, or even Melker Widell to be given a go.
