Shields Gazette
|January 19, 2026
More than 1,000 hard-pressed residents in South Tyneside have been helped through the winter by a 'warm pack' scheme.
Council leader Cllr Tracey Dixon, Cllr Paul Dean and Hospitality and Hope chief executive Peter Maloney.
South Tyneside Council Warm Pack initiative - aimed at easing the impact of rising energy prices and the cost of living-has distributed 1,050 support packages, following on from 1,000 last winter.
Each warm pack contains essential items to help people stay warm and healthy-such as a hot water bottle, thermal clothing, blankets or fleece throws, insulated drinks cups and handwarmers.
