More than 200 drivers in the North East found themselves in handcuffs over the festive period in a police crackdown on drink and drug-driving.
Over 200 drivers arrested for drink and drug offences over the festive season.
Northumbria Police say 227 drivers were arrested for offences between December 1 and January 1-including 104 for being over the alcohol limit, 70 for driving while under the influence of drugs and 35 for being behind the wheel while unfit through alcohol or drugs.
The figures also include eight for failure to provide a sample.
The campaign saw an increase in patrols on the region's roads and more vehicle stops.
