Community radio station marks major milestones

A community radio station has celebrated the official opening of its new site.

Affinity Media NE CIC, the organisation behind Affinity Radio North East, has launched its new, state-of-the-art broadcast studios in Gateshead.

It marks two major milestones for the community radio station, which was originally named Radio Shields.

It is four years since the UK's first small-scale DAB service began broadcasting in South Shields and Tynemouth, and one year of DAB broadcasting across Newcastle and Gateshead.

As a Community Interest Company (CIC), Affinity Media NE continues to create inclusive opportunities for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.
