Pupils enjoy lesson in school's history
Sevenoaks Chronicle
|June 12, 2025
A SEVENOAKS primary school, reputed to be the oldest in the country, has marked its 350th anniversary with a celebration attended by former pupils.
-
Lady Boswell's Church of England Primary School was founded in 1675 by Lady Margaret Boswell, who established a charitable trust prior to her death.
The school began with just one master and 15 ‘poor scholars’ from across the town. Lessons are believed to have taken place in the master's own home. The original school house, built in 1818, still stands on London Road.
