Terrified woman jumped out of a moving car to get away from her violent boyfriend

SHE RAN TO THE NEAREST HOUSE SHE COULD FIND WITH A LIGHT ON AND A COUPLE LET HER IN

- By MARK NAYLOR

A TERRIFIED woman suddenly jumped out of a moving car after her violent and jealous boyfriend started "ragging her about" and "screaming and shouting" at her while he was driving.

Binge-drinking ex-soldier Luke Slater had been branded a "misogynist" who "condoned violence towards women" and his aggressive and controlling behaviour caused serious problems in the couple's relationship, a court heard.

Slater, 35, of Priestgate, Barton-upon-Humber, but recently in custody on remand, admitted using coercive and controlling behaviour between January 1, 2019, and February 18 last year.

Nadim Bashir, prosecuting, told Hull Crown Court that Slater's five-year relationship with the woman was at first good but he became paranoid and accused her of flirting with other people. During arguments, he sometimes pushed her.

He was violent and controlling and his behaviour included threats to kill her as well as actual violence. While they were staying at a campsite in 2019, they had both been drinking and having a good time when he "switched" and dragged her out of the pub by her arms.
