The Russian invasion of Ukraine is only the latest conflict to have seen far-reaching developments in life-saving skills and treatments used to care for the wounded. JANE SYMONS reports

Ukraine has sent more than 200 experts in anti-drone warfare to help Gulf nations repel attacks from Iran, but that's not the only way that life-and-death skills developed since the Russian invasion four years ago benefit the country's friends and allies. Surgeons and medics treating soldiers and civilians in the conflict are also pushing the boundaries of care and developing new techniques which will save and change lives around the world.
