Thug on bail jailed for life for killing father

Brandon McLachlan killed Jamie Lucas near a North Lanarkshire nightclub. The fatal attack occurred after a brief bust-up between the men, who were not known to each other before that night.

Yesterday, a judge said McLachlan appeared to “plot his revenge” after coming off worse in the altercation.

The furious 22-year-old went home to obtain a knife before returning to the club and pouncing on his 33-year-old victim as he left the premises with his girlfriend.

The joiner collapsed in the street and never recovered having been struck in the heart. McLachlan boasted to police: “I went home. Got the knife and stabbed him to f***.”

He has now been jailed for a minimum 18-and-a-haif years at the High Court in Glasgow having pled guilty to murder.

Mr Lucas had been out with girlfriend Lynsay Goldie at Diamonds nightclub in Airdrie on Saturday, December 21 last year. McLachlan was there but was kicked out by staff due to his behaviour.

He was then standing outside when Mr Lucas and his partner briefly left to have a cigarette.
