The visit of the US President has prompted one of the biggest security operations ever mounted in the United Kingdom.

Mr Trump is expected to visit his luxury hotel at Turnberry in Ayrshire, and will then head across to his other five-star property in Aberdeenshire.

There, he will formally open the second golf course on the Menie Estate before returning home on Tuesday.

Numerous protests are expected across Scotland to coincide with the president's trip, but Police Scotland said it was confident it will be able to deal with any eventuality.

However, President Trump's advisors will be more concerned with the continuing rumours about his alleged links to convicted paedo-phile, Jeffery Epstein.

Reports claim that the president was told several months ago that his name was listed among hundreds mentioned in US Justice Department documents regarding the late tycoon.

The billionaire financier, 66, was found dead in his New York prison cell in 2019 while on remand accused of sex trafficking charges.
