STARRING ROHL IN ENGLAND AWAITS

A PREMIER League manager in the making.

That's how highly Chris Powell rates Danny Rohl.When he watched the German eventually walk away from Sheffield Wednesday - where the pair had worked together - he says the Owls were losing the manager of their dreams.

Powell isn't the least big surprised that Rohl is in the process of reawakening a sleeping giant in Glasgow. The former England left-back was his assistant at Hillsborough, where the current Ibrox gaffer got his break in management.

Against all odds, he kept Wednesday up when they looked doomed before stabilising the crisis club in the Championship. But with zero backing from owners who wanted to sell up, Rohl set himself free.

Powell, (right) who has worked with top bosses at club and international level, knew the 36-year-old was destined for bigger things. And when Rangers turned to Rohl last October to take over as manager, he felt it was the perfect match.

Powell might be a born and bred Londoner, but he's well aware of the Ibrox club’s size, stature and traditions. He grew up idolising legendary wingers like Davie Cooper and Mark Walters in the 80s and 90s.

So he knows how big a job Rohl took on by coming to Scotland. But Powell is absolutely convinced that he'll bring success to the club.
