Star bakers on giant roll

As you may have spotted, they’ve been inviting applications for the next series of THE GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF, the current run of which concludes tonight (C4, 8pm).

All you have to do (well, all right, maybe not “all”, but here’s how to get your application underway) is go to channel4.com/ takepart, click the relevant link and fill in a little form.

Or, to be strictly accurate, quite a big one.

For a start, there’s a long list of rules you have to adhere to.

You mustn’t be a professional, for example, and the materials you submit as part of your application must not, among other things, be “defamatory, blasphemous, obscene or in contempt of court”, which immediately rules out my carrot cake on at least two counts.

They also ask you to give them a few paragraphs on what sort of baker you are.
